Every home chef knows the struggle: cheap plastic boards that dull your knives, or flimsy wooden ones that warp, crack, and trap bacteria. You end up wasting money and compromising your cooking—and your knives.
Our premium end grain cutting boards fix that. The end grain design lets blades slip between wood fibers, protecting sharpness and creating a self-healing surface that hides cut marks. It’s why professional chefs swear by them—end grain is the most knife-friendly, durable surface out there.
Every slice on a plastic cutting board creates microscopic grooves where not only bacteria flourish, but tiny plastic particles can break free.
As these boards wear down, these invisible particles can transfer to your fresh ingredients. Meanwhile, chemical additives in plastic boards can leach into foods, especially acidic ingredients like tomatoes or citrus.
With growing concerns about synthetic materials in our food system, more families are reconsidering what touches their fresh ingredients during preparation.
Professional-Grade Construction
The cutting board that chefs choose
End-grain cutting boards are the gold standard in professional kitchens for good reason. By arranging wood blocks so the grain runs vertically (like a bundle of straws standing upright), your knife slides between wood fibers rather than cutting across them.
While more complex to construct, requiring up to 3 times more labor than standard boards, the result is a premium cutting surface that both professional chefs and serious home cooks prefer.

Knife-Friendly Surface
Preserves your blade's edge for years longer

Self-Healing Properties
Wood fibers close back up after cutting

Unmatched Durability
Resists splitting and cracking even with daily use
Unlike disposable alternatives that quickly deteriorate, our premium end grain cutting boards are built to last generations.
The thickness and specialized construction create exceptional durability that improves with age, developing a beautiful patina that tells your family's culinary story.
With minimal maintenance, this isn't just a kitchen tool—it's a lifetime investment in quality craftsmanship.

Our end grain cutting boards bring back the natural kitchen tools our grandparents knew. Made from premium, sustainably sourced hardwoods—free from chemicals and synthetics—they offer a stable 0.7” thick surface for all your prep work.
Each board is sanded smooth and finished with our food-safe conditioning oil. Science backs what tradition taught: wood naturally resists bacteria. Choosing our board means choosing a clean, healthy kitchen for your family.

Frequently asked questions
Use the FAQ section to answer your customers' most frequent questions.
our boards
End-grain cutting boards are created by arranging wood blocks so that the grain runs vertically (picture a bundle of straws standing upright). When your knife contacts the surface, it slides between these wood fibers rather than cutting across them.
This construction provides three major advantages:
Gentler on knife edges - Your blade separates the wood fibers rather than chopping into them, preserving sharpness
Self-healing surface - The wood fibers close back up after cutting, minimizing visible knife marks
Greater durability - The end-grain construction distributes force more effectively, preventing splitting and cracking
While more complex to construct (requiring up to 3 times more labor than edge-grain boards), the result is a premium cutting surface that professional chefs and serious home cooks prefer.
With proper care, your NORA LUA end-grain board should last for decades. Many customers pass them down as family heirlooms. If the surface shows wear after years of use, it can be lightly sanded and re-oiled to restore its original beauty.
Quite the opposite! Our end-grain walnut boards are specifically designed to preserve your knives' sharpness. The vertical wood fibers allow the blade to slide between them rather than cutting across them, significantly reducing edge wear compared to plastic, bamboo, or edge-grain wooden boards.
Our boards are crafted by skilled artisans who specialize in fine woodworking, using traditional techniques combined with modern precision tools. While our production partners are located internationally, every board undergoes rigorous quality control inspections before shipping to ensure it meets our exacting standards. This global approach allows us to offer exceptional quality at accessible prices while maintaining ethical manufacturing practices.
Order
At the moment we only ship to the United States.
We ship all orders within 1-2 business days. Standard delivery to the United States typically takes 10-14 days from order date. While this is longer than some domestic suppliers, we've found our customers are happy to wait a bit longer for a premium product at a significantly better value. We provide detailed tracking information so you can monitor your order's journey.
Please note: Your board will look slightly different than the board in the picture due to variations in batches of wood and due to the hand craftsmanship of the boards.
If there is something wrong with your board or if you're otherwise not satisfied, let us know through our contact page. We are happy to refund your money without hassle.

Care
With minimal maintenance, your NORA LUA cutting board will serve you for decades:
Hand wash only with warm water and mild soap. Make sure to get both sides wet to avoid bending.
Dry immediately after washing, standing on edge to allow air circulation.
Oil monthly with food-grade mineral oil or our specially formulated board conditioner.
Avoid prolonged exposure to water or extreme temperatures.
Refresh the surface occasionally with a light sanding and re-oiling if needed.
For the first month, we recommend oiling weekly as the wood adjusts to your home environment. After that, monthly oiling is typically sufficient for regular use. In dry climates or with frequent use, you may need to oil more often. The board will tell you when it needs attention—if it looks or feels dry, it's time to apply oil.
No. Never place wooden cutting boards in the dishwasher as the heat and moisture will cause warping, cracking, and joint failure. Hand washing with warm water and mild soap, followed by immediate drying, is the proper care method.
Use only food-grade mineral oil or specialized cutting board oil. Avoid cooking oils (olive, vegetable, etc.) as they can become rancid. For best results, use our NORA LUA Board Conditioner, a proprietary blend of mineral oil and natural waxes that nourishes and protects your board (coming soon).
